November can’t get here fast enough.

I am beyond sick of the mud-slinging that has become our elections. I wonder; “What do all the men and women who died for this country think of the stuff that is going on?” This has got to be one of the most disappointing, selection of candidates since, well as long as I can remember.

I remember our 40th President, Ronald Reagan somewhat. Although at those young ages (6-14) I don’t know whether he was a good President or not. I thought he looked like a very nice man and he spoke in a memorable way, (of course that could have been the actor in him) but, I always thought he sounded like he was telling the truth. I didn’t know enough to judge what was good or bad when it came to our Commander In Chief, but if you asked me, I would have told you I liked Reagan just fine and if you asked me to compare him to Carter, I would have asked you, “Carter who?” To be completely honest, I haven’t been overly impressed with any of the Presidents since Reagan.

Back then I didn’t understand the whole political party business, I just remember adults getting kinda pissy if you weren’t in the same party. It all seemed silly to me…it seems far more silly now that I’m an adult. I think restricting yourself to only voting within your party is ridiculous. If your party doesn’t have a candidate that you agree with and another one does, why wouldn’t you vote for the man/or woman that you agree with? Just because they are not within your party? That’s like saying; “I am always going to buy only Fords. Oh, look at that Chevy! It has everything I want in a new car, good reviews and all. But damn, I refuse to buy it because it’s not a Ford.” Really? Lest you forget, we live in a free country. We have the right to vote as we want. It seems to me that voters who limit themselves to the “party”…are just damn silly.

I’ve always been told, “If you don’t vote, you can’t bitch.” I’ve always agreed with that, until now. Until this cluster fuck embarrassment of-an-election. This election has me completely undecided what to do. More-so it has me seriously ashamed of some of America’s citizens. Honestly, with our choices of Presidential candidates, I’m starting to think we can abstain and still bitch. We want to believe the quote; “Your vote counts!” Does it? Does it really? Read up on the Electoral college then ask yourself if YOUR vote truly matters. If the DNC did rig the election, does your vote really matter? Why is it that Deployed Service members votes do not have time to  be mailed and counted before they are announcing our new President? Do their votes matter? Don’t get me wrong, I will vote. But I have my doubts that it will matter, which in itself, is sad to me.

And so, I ask myself, “What-the-fuck is going on with this country?” I don’t get it. Do people not see the hold that corporations have on us? The media, the government, the pharmaceutical companies, banks, health insurance….just to name a few. What does it all come down to? Money, of course. “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” 1 Timothy 6:10 I think, that because of the above listed businesses, we Americans are the ones being pierced with griefs and are so far divided that we aren’t willing to do anything about it. America has become a nation of sheep. The media has perfected the ability to manipulate the information to benefit themselves and the corporations that fund them.  We no longer receive the truth, but a tale full of misinformation and lies to sway the public into a false opinion. Even when the truth is clearly put in front of us, we are still so easily manipulated, that we refuse to see it let alone believe it.

I love my country, but I’m disappointed in her right now. For this, just as every other election, I will look for spiritual guidance before placing my vote November 8th. I’ve heard more than enough from both candidates. I’ve heard enough from the news stations and social media. I’ve heard enough of every other persons opinion on the matter. Come November 8th I will be making the choice that I believe is the best. I will make my vote thoughtfully and prayerfully and not based upon the opinions of others. This is my right and my duty to America and I don’t take it lightly. If you are a US citizen, I hope you don’t either.

And so it begins.

I’ve started this site to share my random thoughts and begin the book I have been talking about writing for over a decade now. We have one life….we must live it to the fullest because tomorrow isn’t promised (and I am not getting any younger).
